Set between Leeds, York and Wakefield, Fairburn Ings is an ideal family getaway. One-third of the 700-acre RSPB reserve is open water, and more than 270 species of birds have been recorded. A visitor centre provides information, and there’s an elevated boardwalk suitable for visitors with disabilities. You’ll see lots of wildlife here whatever the season, and there's always something to do, from pond-dipping to feeding the ducks, bug hunting or building a den. You can also indulge in some wildlife retail therapy or stock up on snacks and refreshments at the shop.
